The Opportunity

General Bank of Canada is looking for a permanent, full time Business Development Specialist to join the organization as a key contributor with the Bank's Business Development team. Consistent with the growth trajectory of the Bank, this is an excellent opportunity for the right individual to contribute to building the Bank of the future with considerable potential for learning, growth, and advancement. 

Reporting to the Manager, Pricing & Product Development, the Business Development Specialist will be responsible for supporting the Sales Team developing incentives and targeted business focuses by analyzing data to assist with positive outcomes. This position is responsible for reviewing newly onboarded dealerships to ensure they meet General Bank of Canada (GBC) standard metrics and for supporting Territory Managers in enhancing dealer performance. The role also includes maintaining promotional materials and streamlining dealer-related processes. Tasks will vary depending on business needs; this will require the employee to be self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks independently, while consistently supporting the sales team in driving business growth. 

Responsibilities
 

  • Collaborate with Territory Managers to understand their territories, loan volume, profit, and credit risk strategies. Assist in territory development, dealer engagement, and account planning to ensure successful integration, setup, and ongoing support for dealerships.
  • Perform regular reviews to assess dealer progress and success, identifying and addressing areas for improvement to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Develop and manage incentive programs that motivate dealers, align with company goals, and drive performance while fostering strong dealer engagement.
  • Source, maintain, and update promotional materials, including brochures, sell sheets, and SWAG, ensuring alignment with incentives, seasonal requirements, organizational goals, and brand guidelines.
  • Utilize data, insights, and technology to support department needs, streamline processes, and promote dealer success through creative solutions.
  • Handle GBC and First Canadian representatives' inquiries, directing questions to appropriate departments for resolution.
  • Support management strategies and assist Territory Managers in achieving targets by optimizing processes for dealer setup, incentives, and performance tracking.
  • Ensure dealer management framework processes are maintained and comply with company standards and objectives.
  • Support ad-hoc business initiatives and projects that contribute to business growth and dealer satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


What You Bring to the Table
Required Qualifications
 

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in a remote sales or business development role.
  • Experience in the automotive industry such as dealerships including positions related to automotive financing or sales.
  • High school diploma with continued education or professional development training.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel), including advanced Excel skills such as pivot tables, charts, formulas, and creating/maintaining reports and trackers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an open and approachable style to support the Sales Team and build relationships across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical mindset and attention to detail, with the ability to track, analyze, and leverage metrics to drive performance and business growth.


Preferred Qualifications
 

  • Expert knowledge of the unique needs in automotive dealerships including the finance office.
  • Experience in enhancing and streamlining sales team processes.
  • Post-secondary education in administration, business, finance or related discipline.
  • Familiarity with software applications like PPLUS, Compass, DealerTrack, and Route One.


Workplace Model: In-office 

Location: Edmonton 

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $61,691.79 to $83,465.37
