Position Purpose: The Seasonal Transit & Fleet is responsible for assisting mechanics, washing, and cleaning of all equipment and vehicles, vehicle circle checks, minor repairs and maintenance to vehicles and equipment including service of golf carts and landscape equipment. The seasonal staff in Transit & Fleet will also be trained as MIT for rides inspections, and shop maintenance. This position will assist and provide support in implementing the Strategic Plan.
Core Role Responsibilities:
- Assist with the service and maintenance of equipment and vehicles under supervision.
- Wash and Clean vehicles and equipment.
- Maintain the safety and cleanliness of workspaces.
- Operation of trucks and other motorized vehicles, depending on abilities and experience.
- Participate in Ride Mechanic in Training (RMIT) program.
- Follows all policies and branch instructions.
- Attends appropriate training as required.
Technical Knowledge and Skills:
- Must have a formal high school trades training, and or automotive mechanical skills would be an asset, or the equivalent amount of training and related experience.
- Must have a working knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Must be mechanically inclined.
- Ability to work well with others in a team environment
- Self-starter, able to work with little direct supervision.
- Desire to set and maintain a high standard of cleanliness and safety.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, along with strong communications skills.
- Must ensure all applicable licenses and certificates remain valid and in good standing. Copies of licenses and certificates to be provided at time of hire and upon renewal.
- Working knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and WHMIS legislation an asset.
- Must possess an unrestricted Class G driver's license valid in the Province of Ontario along with a good driving record. Must be able to work weekends, shifts and holidays as scheduled.
- Must be able to deal with staff and public in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Capable of meeting the physical requirements of the position including the ability to lift and carry 23 to 44 lbs.
