Triple Eight Transport Inc. is growing and is in search for an experienced Truck/Trailer Mechanic to join our professional team-oriented Shop!
Founded in 2006, Triple Eight Transport Inc is an asset-based carrier company with terminals in Abbotsford, Calgary, and Edmonton! We provide Full Truck Load Transportation Services to and from major cities in Western Canada and Western US with our own fleet of Reefers, and Dry Vans. We are expanding in Calgary and building another terminal there, hence we are looking for talented individuals to join our team in our new shop in Calgary. The shop will be opening in June, 2025 so we are looking to hire someone in May, 2025. The candidate must be willing to complete their training in our shop in BC.
As a Truck/Trailer Mechanic, you will work in conjunction with Tractor and Trailer Technicians to complete preventative maintenance and repairs on the fleet in a timely and efficient manner by diagnosing problems found during inspections prescribing the correct remedial action. You will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing various types of trailers used in transportation and logistics and ensure that trailers are in optimal working condition to safely carry goods and materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspection: Perform routine and comprehensive inspections of trucks to identify defects or maintenance issues. MVI/ CVI Inspections every 6 months.
- Maintenance: Carry out preventive maintenance on trucks, including lubrication, tire changes, brake adjustments, and inspections of all truck systems.
- Repairs: Diagnose and repair issues with truck components, including the electrical system, braking system, axles, tires, suspension, and more.
- Troubleshooting: Identify mechanical, and electrical issues and apply the appropriate repairs or replacements.
- Parts Management: Order and manage parts and supplies required for repairs and maintenance.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure that all trucks meet local, state, and federal safety regulations, including DOT (Department of Transportation) compliance.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with customers or supervisors to provide updates on repairs, costs, and timelines.
- Emergency Repairs: Respond to breakdowns or emergency repair requests, working efficiently to minimize downtime.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to diagnose issues quickly and implement effective solutions.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to perform thorough inspections and ensure high-quality repairs.
- Tools & Equipment: Proficiency with hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and welding tools.
- Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety practices and regulations for trailer repair and maintenance.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy parts and work in various weather conditions.
- Environment: Work is typically performed in a shop or field environment.
- Safety: Follow all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Perform daily safety checks.
Skills
- Proficient in the use of tools relevant to mechanical repair.
- 3 years of experience in a similar position preferred.
- Having a class 1 license is an asset.
- Having Red Seal or Inspector's license is an asset.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Good communication skills to effectively convey technical information.
- Must be legally allowed to work full time in Canada.
- A commitment to safety practices within the workplace.
