The Role
Our Mitchell Plastics Kitchener facility is looking for an Accounts Payable & Administration Supervisor. Reporting to the Regional Controller, the Accounts Payable & Administration Supervisor will be responsible for leading the day-to-day activities of the team while continuing to be hands-on in carrying out all responsibilities specific to the Accounts Payable function. This role calls for time management skills, your passion for solving problems and exceptional communication skills. An important element of the role is coordinating with different stakeholders within the business and externally.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the Accounts Payable & Administration Team, including managing and reviewing workflows, invoice and payment processing and vendor management
- Ensures integrity of the accounts payable accounting system subledger
- Prepare and manage all forms of payments, including ACH, EFT, wire transfers, and cheques
- Monitor and report on bank activity across various banking platforms
- Develop, implement and maintains systems, procedures and policies to ensure adherence to company guidelines & internal controls
- Lead and manage projects and initiatives for the Accounts Payable function directed towards process improvements
- Reconcile inter-divisional transactions and oversee supplier chargebacks, credit card programs, and employee expense reimbursements
- Lead month-end processes including account reconciliations, accruals, and analysis of vendor accounts
- Assist with annual audits and maintain accurate financial records and systems
Qualifications and Skills
- Accounting Diploma or Degree is required
- 5 years accounting experience in a manufacturing environment; previous supervisory experience would be an asset
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated experience optimizing and streamlining processes
- Self-starter who is able to work well with others or in a team environment
- Knowledge of accounts payable, variance analysis, financial reporting, and information systems
- Computer proficiency in: Microsoft Office and ERP systems
- Flexibility to move from project to project quickly and with limited supervision
- Ability to communicate with vendors, customs brokers, and banks
- Understanding of all procedures, forms and labels governing job function
