Position Overview
Operations Delivery & Continuous Improvement
• Perform fuel tank dips at various City locations.
• Assist technicians with various light duty repairs/service.
• Accompany and assist technicians when performing service calls.
• Pickup and deliver vehicles.
• Pickup and return Ministry licensing packages.
• Pickup and return part orders.
• Put away part stock orders.
• Organize parts room.
• General Fleet shop housekeeping
• Assist Fleet Coordinator when necessary.
• Assists with the coordination of special project activities.
• Assists with performing data/clerical entry.
Please note this position requires the successful candidate to work on-site 5 days' a week at the Joint Operations Centre (2800 Rutherford Road).
Qualifications and Experience
• Enrolled in post-secondary studies or recently graduated with a focus on: Engineering related discipline.
• A valid class "G" driver's license, in good standing.
• Capable of working both individually and as a team member.
• Quick learner and self-motivated.
• Ability to follow instructions and exercise sound judgement.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Prior experience in the automotive industry is an asset.
• Must have well developed computer skills. Computer literate and proficient in MS Windows Outlook, Word, Excel, PeopleSoft etc. Willingness to learn other specialized computer software applications and techniques as required.
• Must have good organizational and analytical skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated effective communications, including effective report writing.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Ability to self-manage and identify issues, challenges and opportunities and propose solutions.
• Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public, staff, members of Council, contractors, consultants, government agencies, and others.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and procedures.
• Must be highly motivated and able to take direction.
• Ability to work under time constraints and to meet deadlines
Working Conditions
• 100% of time in shop environment, and various locations within the City of Vaughan with potential exposure to seasonal/environmental elements, heat, cold, noise and vehicle fumes.
• Will require the use of applicable protective equipment e.g.: safety boots, glasses, and vests.
