What can you expect?

The Vehicle Mechanic II is in a visible role and provide an outstanding experience for guests via the safe and reliable operation and maintenance of the powered equipment fleet e.g., snowcats, snowmobiles, light passenger and commercial vehicles, off-road vehicles, heavy equipment, generators, buses. Mechanic II's are focused on safety, efficiency, and being approachable and courteous while assisting senior Mechanics with inspections and repair duties. The Vehicle Mechanic II reports to the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor or designate and works under the guidance of other senior personnel in Maintenance. They liaise frequently with most operations departments. 

This job might be right for you if you think you would really enjoy:

Assisting in all maintenance duties e.g., test, troubleshoot, adjust, overhaul, repair, service, while always maintaining and contributing to a safe and efficient work site e.g., operating equipment, inspections, disassembly, assembly, and cleaning of equipment and worksites. 

Administrative and Reporting Responsibilities: 

 

  • Completing documentation e.g., daily checks, assigned logs, daily reports, maintenance logs, inventory counts, worksite inspections.
  • Communicating unusual operating conditions e.g., mechanical, operational, environmental.


 

  • Communicating and adhering to company initiatives and policies, relevant legislation, and manufacturer guidelines e.g., OHS, relevant codes, Employee Handbook.
  • Timely and accurate reporting of all incidents and deficiencies to appropriate departments/personnel.


Other duties may be requested and assigned from time to time. 

And you are/have:

 

  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Valid and clear Alberta vehicle operator's license. Class 4 or 2 and endorsements an asset.
  • Own basic set of tools appropriate for the position.
  • Positive, mature, and friendly attitude.


 

  • Calm under pressure and patient.
  • Communicate effectively in English, both written and verbally.
  • Work in a confidential capacity.
  • Prepared to work flexible schedules e.g., weekends, holidays, nights, extended hours.
  • Prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions e.g., appropriate footwear, layers, gloves.


 

  • Maintain professional conduct when in uniform, on or off-duty, and online.
  • Effectively provide support and assistance to coworkers.
  • Attend and actively participate in meetings and training.
  • Must be neat, alert, punctual and dependable.
  • Effective and timely team transport with company vehicles as required.


Additional considerations:

 

  • Employees must always be of sound mind, exhibit good judgement, and report to work fit for duty.
  • Requires standing for long periods of time, constant trunk rotation, frequent lifting, pushing/pulling of equipment, parts, and tools (up to 45 kg). Routinely climb inclined stairs up to 5m or occasionally climb ladders up to 20m, hike and move around in an alpine environment.
  • This role maintains/operates machinery, vehicles, and works around moving equipment.


 

  • This role maintains and operates hand/powered tools/equipment e.g., wrenches, testing equipment, hoists
  • Candidates may be required to provide their own transportation to the resort base.
  • Candidates are required to provide and maintain CSA approved safety footwear.
  • Required uniform pieces (liner, jacket, pants, toque/hat, collared shirt, polo) are provided.
  • This role has potential exposure to industrial chemicals e.g., solvents, oils, grease, fuels.
