Position Overview:
We are currently looking for Diesel Technicians to join the Finning Canada family! This dedicated Diesel Technician will be responsible for working with our Surrey Power Systems team in the field. You will be responsible for troubleshooting and overseeing repairs on a variety of Caterpillar engines and applications. From power generation, to marine applications, there is endless opportunities to carve out your future with Finning!

This position with be based out of our Surrey - Power Systems facility on a 5x2 rotation with work in a service truck and in the field with our customers.

Job Description:
 

  • Troubleshooting power systems equipment and perform equipment repairs
  • Perform field diagnosis and field running repairs
  • Focus on power systems work
  • Utilize Caterpillar SIS and ET daily
  • Complete technical documentation (service reports, warranty, crossover notes, site failure reports)
  • Interact with customers, products and sales support
  • Working with the Supervisor and Chargehand on various tasks
  • Providing support with reference to on-site safety requirements
  • Maintain Finning Customer Service Commitment


Qualifications:
 

  • Interprovincial Diesel Engine Mechanic, Automotive or Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification
  • Minimum 1 year related experience
  • Safety conscious team player with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a high attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Understanding of the Caterpillar product line
  • Engine and/or component rebuilding experience would be considered an asset
  • Transmission or Hydraulic testing would be considered an asset
  • Previous gas engine and power generation experience would be considered an asset


Notes: 
 

  • This position is based on a 5x2 shift rotation based out of our Surrey, BC location
  • A condition of employment is the ability to be fit tested and the ability to wear a respirator
  • Any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • Candidate selection will be in compliance with the terms of the current collective agreement
