As a proud partner with Kelowna Aerospace Defence Programs, we deliver numerous support services tailored to our client, the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF).

The Heavy Equipment Mechanicposition is located in Southport, MB and typically reports directly to the Roads and Grounds Supervisor. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for conducting preventative and corrective maintenance and repairs on small and heavy equipment, and fleet vehicles. 

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
 

  • Schedule and perform regular maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles and equipment.
  • Complete work orders and weekly time summaries in a timely fashion.
  • Assist with other trades as needed including:
  • Adhere to safety standards and company policies when operating machinery and other equipment;
  • Escort contractors on airside as required;
  • Ensure snow and ice removal on airside and around CFTS occupied buildings, sidewalks and parking lots;
  • Roll and dye mark helicopter landing/training sites;
  • Operate the loader for any contractors on site;
  • Assist in maintaining and cleaning all equipment and shop area;
  • Cut grass around runways, taxiways, off-level hills, helo pads, remote sites, Grabber Green and around CFTS occupied buildings;
  • Complete line painting on airport operating surfaces and parking lots; and
  • Complete joint sealing on airport operating surfaces and other leased paved surfaces.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
 

  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must hold Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Red Seal or similar.
  • Will consider Year 3 or 4 apprentice of a related program.
  • 3-5 years of experience required.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain an Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance.
  • Valid Manitoba Class 5 license.
  • On-the-job training required - Restricted Operator Certificate with Aeronautical Qualification (ROC-A) and Airside Vehicle Operator's Permit (AVOP).
