Position Summary

Timberland Express is currently searching for a highly motivated 310T Truck Mechanic as we continue to grow in our location. 

The Licensed 310T Truck Mechanic will be a part of the Maintenance Team at our Clarksburg location, reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor and will be responsible for the improvement of equipment productivity, maximizing efficiency, and minimizing equipment downtime while providing quality workmanship, consistent service, and technical knowledge. Performs all tasks related to the testing, diagnosing, repair, maintenance, and reconditioning of heavy equipment, transmissions, engines and engine components on all Fleet vehicles in the shop.

Responsibilities
 

  • Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems.
  • Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer's performance specifications.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance, such as safety inspections, oil changes, lubrications, and tune ups.
  • Inspect or test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions.
  • Diagnose faults and malfunctions and confirm findings with supervisor to determine course of repair.
  • Record steps involved in repairs, general vehicle condition and note future repairs that may be required.
  • Collaborates with transportation team to optimize efficiency.
  • Interacts with drivers.
  • Performs the work safely according to Ministry requirements, and to Timberland health and safety program.
  • Maintain a clean working environment and assist with parts inventory control.
  • Report non-compliance and safety issues to management.
  • Maintains detailed and accurate files, all power units and tow units.
  • Oversees / guides apprentice personnel.
  • Fluctuating hours (weekend work may be required).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
 

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of heavy-duty trucks and trailer experience.
  • Valid 310T certification
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Clean driver's abstract.
  • Proficiency in English, spoken and written.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Professional demeanor.

  • Ability to be a self-starter capable of working effectively in a team environment or as an individual contributor.
  • Ability to follow schedules, instructions, technical manuals and maintenance guidelines, and other procedures associated with the maintenance of the company fleet.

  • Efficient communication skills.
  • Ability to learn new technology and repair and service procedures and specifications.
  • Able to operate electronic diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to follow all company safety policies and procedures.


Knowledge of:
 

  • Transportation requirements.
  • Product lift sizes and piece counts.
  • Truck weight and loading capacities.
  • All tools required to perform repairs and maintenance on vehicles.


Working Conditions
 

  • Exposure to dampness and humidity, toxic chemicals, exhaust fumes, gasoline, and diesel fuel.
  • Physically able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, as needed.
