Position Summary
As an Electronics Failure Analysis Technologist, you will leverage your expertise to investigate and diagnose product field failures. Your role involves conducting thorough root-cause analyses, identifying underlying issues, and proposing effective solutions. You will tackle existing problems while also offering valuable insights for emerging issues. This is an excellent opportunity for a detailed oriented, tech-savvy candidate who will eventually lead the failure analysis function.
Specific Duties
- Conducts failure analysis and evaluation of power electronics products.
- Tests and troubleshoots electrical circuits (analog and digital) to component level.
- Tests, debugs and modifies circuit boards.
- Analyzes and evaluates field failure units and customer returned units.
- Establishes trends and identifies possible root causes.
- Supports Engineering root cause analysis of field failure units and customer returned units.
- Supports tests and evaluations of prototype samples and provides the analysis reports to Engineering.
- Documents analyses, evaluations and test results in the ERP warranty system (SAGE) and master log (MS Excel).
- Maintains an inventory system to track and control RMA units.
- Provides basic MS Excel statistical reports of failure analysis.
- Supports 5S in the Product Analysis group.
- Coordinates and prioritizes the analysis of RMA units in coordination with OEM Support and Quality Engineering.
- Conducts the functional evaluation of units to support the final audits of units prior to shipping to customers.
- Coordinates the MRB meeting for the evaluation and disposal of the RMA units.
- Supports the 8D/PRR process by providing the data and trends of the RMA units received.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Relevant education in Electrical/Electronic Technology coupled with at least 3 years of relevant work experience.
- Proficient in using electrical test equipment, standard hand tools and soldering equipment.
- Ability to read electronic circuit schematics.
- Proficient in digital and analog electronic circuits.
- Strong understanding in troubleshooting, diagnostic and cause analysis methodology.
- Experience in component level troubleshooting and rework.
- Proficient in assembly and surface mount soldering & de-soldering skills.
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
- MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint skills.
- Experience with equipment calibration and maintenance practices.
- Advanced statistical skills to analyze data and create graphical reports.
- Strong understanding in IPC standards for electronics.
- Experience in ISO 9001 standards and requirements.

Benefits
Base Salary: $68,400 - $84,400 CAD per year plus bonus.
The compensation offered will be determined by experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skills.
