Job Description
Engineering Specailst - Fastening - Assembly
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Ensure plant floor fastening equipment is maintained and documented to PTP 07-111 (Calibration Accuracy Verification of DC Fastening Equipment).
- Develop and adjust, using process data, the fastening strategies based on the ME fastening template PTA-480-ME-1.
- Troubleshoot and react to fastening rejects.
- Address FTT issues.
- Assist gun room IMM with repair and test of fastening equipment.
- Optimize fastening programs for cycle time.
- Investigate fastening related warranty issues.
- Long term reduction of socket cost per engine.
- Support Manufacturing Process Engineering activity.
- Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality and productivity.
- Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products related to Fastening.
- Support ISO 14001 (QS 9000) compliance and support internal ISO auditing and compliance as required.
- Support continuous improvement in safety, quality and productivity.
- Identify throughput constraints and drive root cause improvements.
- Coordinate with Essex Engine Fastening Engineer for vacation coverage.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent. (Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada, an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required.)
- 3-5 years of experience in an Engineering Specialist - Process or Engineering Specialist - Controls position.
- Strong data analysis capabilities (GB or BB certified) using Minitab and Qualityworx for large amounts of data.
- AutoCAD experience.
- Understanding of machining processes, especially thread forming.
- Understanding of bolted connections and sources of variation, and the relationship between torque, clamp load, and friction.
- Familiar with basic troubleshooting of machine issues.
- Understanding of typical controls logic.
- Machine/Fastening troubleshooting.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience.
- 8D and 5Why corrective action and problem solving skills.
- DMAIC Project Methodology experience.
- Previous experience with various generations of Atlas Copco fastening systems would be an asset.
