Position Overview:
Finning Canada is looking for dedicated Leadhand - Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our busy Components shop on a 7x7 Continuous Shift rotation in Regina, SK. As the Leadhand - Heavy Duty Mechanic, you will provide mentorship and direction to your team and have the opportunity to work on industry leading equipment and cutting edge CAT technology. Your duties may include: major repairs - including troubleshooting and diagnostics and scheduled preventative maintenance.

Job Description:

Major Job Functions: 
 

  • Perform regular service troubleshooting and repair duties such as: Disassemble and reassemble components such as engines, transmissions, cooling systems, fuel and exhaust systems, breaks, clutches, differentials, hydraulics, electrical systems and lubrication systems
  • Provide technical expertise on the shop floor and field operations.
  • Schedule, delegate and instruct others in their duties.
  • Review and assist with all necessary paperwork.
  • Provide leadership with reference to on-site safety requirements and operational processes.
  • Maintain positive relationships with customers and co-workers.
  • Understand and adhere to all Finning policies, including Code of Conduct and Safety.
  • Assist in training and development of team members on the job.
  • Provide feedback to Supervisor concerning any issues identified by team members as appropriate.
  • Other work assigned as required.


Qualifications:
 

  • Previous CAT general line experience including troubleshooting (5 year minimum).
  • Computer literacy is required with an understanding of Finning systems and software programs is considered an asset.
  • Completion, or in the process of completing Finning S-level courses.
  • Previous experience with Caterpillar equipment/engines would be considered an asset.
  • Engine and/or component rebuilding experience would be considered an asset.
  • Transmission or Hydraulic testing would be considered an asset.
  • Previous gas engine and power generation experience would be considered an asset.
  • Any other relevant training as required would be considered an asset such as:


o WHMIS

o H2S Alive

o Fall Protection

o Forklift

o Overhead Crane

o Eye, Hand and Back Safety

o Transportation of Dangerous goods

o Contamination control

  • Detail oriented and organized, ability to multi-task.
