Why You?
We are looking for a dynamic and collaborative self-starter who wants to make an impact on our organization and community as Truck and Coach Technician (310T). Working in a dynamic, collaborative and cross-functional environment, the ideal candidate will be responsible for:
- The preventative maintenance, inspection, diagnosis, and repair of Town and external fleet clients' vehicles and equipment.
- Working in compliance with legislatively mandated guidelines to maintain the required level of vehicles and equipment for operations, as well as assist with the maintenance of emergency response vehicles as required.
- Providing ongoing assistance in the coordination of vehicle and equipment servicing, and scheduling.
- Collaborating with the Operations Manager, Roads and Fleet Services and the Fleet Supervisor to provide comment on vehicle and equipment replacement forecasts, repair timelines and associated costs.
- Keeping current with vehicle and equipment trends and best practices, technologies, and maintenance activities.
Job Requirements
The preferred candidate holds:
- Minimum of a secondary school diploma (grade 12) or recognized equivalent.
- Truck & Coach 310T (Interprovincial Red Seal) Certification, Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) Certification.
- Automotive 310S (Interprovincial Red Seal) Certification is an asset, as is the Heavy Duty 421A (Interprovincial Red Seal) Certification.
- Experience working on emergency vehicles is an asset, as is the Emergency Vehicle Technician Level 1, 2 & 3 Certificate.
- A minimum of five (5) years' experience on heavy, medium and light duty vehicles and equipment. Experience to include diesel/gas powered equipment, automatic Alliston transmission, use of oxy-acetylene torch, electric arc and MIG welding equipment, as well as to read/understand, inspect and repair various hydraulic and electrical systems, ignition, cooling, air and mechanical brake systems and basic knowledge of cutting, welding and fabrication.
- A class G driver's license in good standing. Class D or Class A driver's license with Z endorsement in good standing is an asset.
- Required to participate in the on-call/after-hours schedules to assist with emergency maintenance/repair to vehicles, snow plow trucks and equipment, as well as other Town fleet and external clients' fleet.
