Summary:
MacEwen is seeking a Licensed Truck and Coach Technician with a strong foundation in technology and electrical systems. This position will work alongside our team of licensed 310T Truck and Coach Technicians to learn about, and support tank inspections, pumping and metering equipment, telematics, and the systems that support them.
The role requires a mix of mechanical inspections and repairs on our fleet and inspections, repairs, support, and troubleshooting on our tanks and metering equipment. Training will be provided on the job and the ideal candidate will have a strong foundation or interest in electrical systems, diagnostics, telematics, and fuel delivery.
This role will work Wednesday to Friday evenings and Saturday and Sunday days.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safety:
- To always work safely and efficiently.
Vehicle Maintenance:
- Provides vehicle troubleshooting and diagnostic repairs.
- Performs post-delivery inspections for new units before going into service.
- Undertakes all phases of truck and trailer maintenance.
- Performs annual safety inspections through the Drive ON program (once licensed).
- Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs to equipment to ensure that the equipment is available, reliable and safe to operate.
- Keeps detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation, entering them into the company's maintenance management system.
- Any other duties that can reasonably be required.
Tank / Meter / Pumping:
- Becomes qualified to perform annual tank inspections (B620) on petroleum truck tanks and tanker trailers.
- Builds foundational knowledge to become a support for calibrated petroleum metering devices such a Midcom and LCR II systems.
- Works with onboard delivery technology (RAVEN) to support product delivery and billing functions.
- Assists 3rd party installers with troubleshooting during the truck build process.
- Diagnoses and repairs truck and trailer electrical and metering issues as they arise.
- Diagnoses and repairs truck pumping issues as they arise.
- Liaise with 3rd party tank remount providers to stay current on emerging technologies and changes to the MacEwen specifications.
Telematics:
- Installs telematic equipment (Samsara) in new vehicles when purchased
- Removes telematic equipment in vehicles being decommissioned.
- Supports telematic equipment inventory and orders more when required.
- Troubleshoots and repairs telematic equipment as required.
- Enters asset and attribute information into the telematics database for units going into service.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required to be Successful:
- Holds a valid 310T Truck and Coach Technician license, or close to completion.
- A strong desire to become specialized in the petroleum delivery industry.
- Previous experience working on petroleum equipment is desired.
- A strong use and understanding of on-board vehicle systems and diagnostics.
- A strong work ethic and determination to succeed is essential.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently when required.
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Other:
- Valid driver's license. Ideally holds a class D or A license.
- Ability and willingness to work a schedule that includes evenings and Saturday-Sunday days.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Occasional travel to off-site locations may be required.
- Work both indoors and outdoors.
- Carry the on-call phone and provide after-hours support on a rotating basis. Support is provided.
