Position Overview:

The Yard Assistant will support all rental operations in the warehouse and yard. They are responsible for working directly with the rental office and Yard Supervisor while working collaboratively with the warehouse staff, municipal staff, and maintaining efficient rental operations in the warehouse and yard. They support the proper organization and storage of products, assist with loading and unloading vehicles, and ensure adherence to company policies. They will also deliver and retrieve any traffic control material as assigned by the Yard Supervisor and/or the Office Manager.

What you will be responsible for: 

Inventory and Warehouse Operations:
 

  • Spot check inventory on trucks coming in and going out
  • Identify deficiencies with orders and report them to the Yard Supervisor
  • Ensures that items are returned to the proper location in the proper order
  • Support organization in the yard by ensuring products and signs are safely and neatly stored
  • Ensure rental items are stocked to minimum levels


Technical Support and Assistance:
 

  • Assist technicians with loading and unloading vehicles
  • Assist with deliveries and retrieval of Traffic Control Equipment


Communication and Compliance:
 

  • Communicate solutions, suggestions, and ideas to the Yard Supervisor
  • Ensure inventory controls by following administrative protocols
  • Follow all health, safety, and security rules/procedures
  • Perform effectively as a member of the team
  • Act as a company representative and set an example for other team members

What we need from you:
 

  • Valid G class driver's license, your own vehicle, and a clean driver's abstract (Required)
  • Available to work full-time Monday - Friday from 5am - 3pm (Required)
  • Have strong verbal and written English communication skills (Required)
  • Vision and hearing abilities that allow to perform all work requirements safely (Required)
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 100 lbs. with good overall physical stamina (Required)
  • Ability to work in various inclement weather conditions (heat, snow, rain, etc.) (Required)
  • You will be required to provide your own CSA Grade 1 (green label) work boots with a minimum 6 inch cuff and electrical shock resistance (white label with omega symbol)
  • Forklift training/certification (Asset)
  • Experience towing a trailer (Asset)
  • Ability to maintain composure and exhibit grace under pressure
  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues efficiently and make sound decisions
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain order in the yard and warehouse
  • Strong commitment to following health, safety, and security rules/procedures.
