The City of Lethbridge is currently seeking a Fleet Equipment Specialist in a one (1) year, non-permanent term capacity, to assist with the procurement and acquisition process regarding various Fleet vehicles and equipment. This is a great development opportunity for a dedicated self-starter to build their experience in this field.
WAGE: $40.24 per hour
HOURS OF WORK: 7.5 hours/day, Monday to Friday
Reporting to the Fleet Services General Manager, you will be responsible for assisting with the coordination of activities regarding the acquisition and procurement process of various Fleet vehicles and equipment. You will assist with developing specifications based on customer needs, and project tasks to ensure that vehicles acquired, meet business needs, and are procured in a timely fashion and within budget.
Duties will include:
- Researching equipment technologies available to determine best solutions
- Design and develop specifications to ensure that quality equipment is obtained
- Actively communicating with vendors and customers regarding vehicle/equipment needs and plan actions necessary to ensure that customer needs will be met
- Conducting tasks to complete the acquisition process (Procurement plans, RFQs, etc.)
- Acting as the main contact for questions during tender process. Work to develop evaluation criteria for bids and consult with the user group as required
- Review vendor submissions, evaluate against criteria, and provide procurement recommendation to the Fleet Business Unit Manager for acquisition
- Complete the purchasing process (prepare and submit recommendation reports, coordinate changes during construction through change orders, update specification document)
- Communicate with customers, staff and management on a variety of issues
- Review and receive vehicles/equipment to ensure that completed units meet the intended specifications
Your skillset and experience:
- Up to two years of post-secondary education in a relevant area such as supply chain management, purchasing fundamentals, machine design, complemented by:
- Completion of recognized purchasing courses (SCT or SCMP)
- Working knowledge of JD Edwards inventory & procurement modules
- Working knowledge of competitive bidding rules in a public environment
- Knowledge of equipment construction fundamentals
- Self-directed, diligent mindset
- Excellent customer service skills with a focus on positive interactions and strong relationship building skills
- Strong documentation skills to assist with detailed specifications and methods of ensuring quality control
- Proven ability to multitask and excellent time management skills
- Excellent computer skills - ability to create various spreadsheets, analyze data, create reports
- Strong health and safety focus
