AP/AR Specialist

Who You Are
We're seeking someone with strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a high degree of initiative and independence, while also being a collaborative team player. The role requires excellent communication and customer service skills-especially when handling client collections-and a mindset that balances day-to-day accuracy with big-picture thinking.
This position reports to the Controller, Finance, and is based in Vancouver, BC. A touch of fun and a positive attitude go a long way in our team culture!
Responsibilities:
- Perform full-cycle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, including invoice processing, data entry, and payment runs
- Prepare and send client invoices, and follow up professionally on overdue accounts via email
- Call customers directly to follow up on significantly overdue accounts as part of the collections process
- Record daily AP/AR transactions and post journal entries, including intercompany entries, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and to the correct entity ledger
- Maintain and update memos and receipts for corporate credit card activity
- Manage daily cash activities and banking operations
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, accounts receivable, and accounts payable
- Assist with payroll processing for both Canadian and U.S. employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations
- Support FP&A tasks, including updating KPIs and preparing recurring financial reports
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including balance sheet reconciliations
- Collaborate across departments to resolve discrepancies and support accurate financial reporting
- Prepare audit working papers and support the external audit
- Perform ad-hoc accounting and finance tasks as required to support departmental needs
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
- Enrolled in or intending to enroll in the CPA program
- Minimum 2 years of full-cycle AR/AP or general accounting experience in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication, including comfort with customer collection calls
- Strong data entry skills and the ability to maintain accuracy under pressure
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; QuickBooks Online experience is a strong asset
- Familiarity with additional tools such as Recurly is a plus
- Highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently
